Clear Culture Journal welcomes pitches that reveal something worth noticing in an object, image, custom or ritual. We are interested in clear, carefully framed ideas rather than broad surveys or product promotion.
What to pitch
Propose a focused piece about material culture: for example, the meaning carried by a designed form, the changing use of a familiar object, or the history behind a repeated custom. A pitch should give readers a fresh way to understand its subject without relying on professional advice or claims that need specialist access.
Make the idea clear
Tell us the central question, the main point you expect to make and why the subject is worth a reader’s attention. Include the kind of context or sources the piece would need, and mention any limits, uncertainties or differing interpretations that matter. Keep the proposal specific enough to distinguish it from a general overview.
Send a proposal
Proposals are sent through the Contact page. Choose the editorial question option and include a short pitch in the message. Please do not send a complete article unless we have asked for one.
Meaning is made in the details.
A familiar object can hold a design choice, a memory and a shared idea at once. We look at how those layers take shape.
